It’s quite likely that you have already tried studying one or even a few foreign languages, but one thing or another stopped you halfway, and that's why, despite numerous attempts, you haven’t reached anything. Why is this happening? Of course, you can blame the inexperienced people in charge of the education system or lack of free time, but, first of all, it's up to you. You make too many missteps that can be easily avoided if you don’t neglect communication with people who are native speakers, for example, Ukrainian girls. Let's talk about the most widespread ones so that this time, when you decide to learn one (no matter which one), you will succeed and spend time with pleasure.
1. There is no permanence in your studies
You will not make any progress if you are not being consistent. Maybe this isn’t anything new to you, maybe you already know about it. Any studying process should be consistent, you should be confident in your ability to commit to anything that you want, otherwise – nothing will come off it. If you’ve already decided on studying one, then go to the end and do not stop
2. You run away from difficulties.
Let's take as an example an ordinary life. What happens when you constantly run away from problems and difficulties? All the unsolved issues grow snowball that, one day, will fall on your head, and then you will hardly be able to meet the challenge. The studying process is just another difficulty which you don’t want to face. If there is a difficult or incomprehensible moment, then study it, remember, learn, use it in practice, communicating with your pen pals. You shouldn’t put it aside, you still have to understand it, if you really want to know something – you won’t learn it without putting some effort into it.
3. You don’t put your theoretical knowledge to the test.
There is another type of people who are infatuated with learning all sorts of things, they seem to understand what they are talking about, but they don’t. Such people can be called theorists. They may know the rules and words, but they don’t test their knowledge in real life, that’s why they are terrible and incomprehensible when it comes to simplest forms of interactions. Do not be like that. Practice is often more important than theory.
4. You do not use your favorite books and movies.
Nowadays, you can learn anything and do it not only from textbooks, but also from the Internet. You can also use entertaining things like books, movies, music. This will significantly speed up the process as a whole and will make it more exciting and fascinating. Frankly speaking, in any case, you need to read books, watch comedians' performances, movies, serials and stuff in the original dubbing
5. You study haphazardly.
It doesn’t matter how much of an anarchist you may be, a systematic approach is needed in any place where you need to get knowledge. The task that you are facing is no different. In general, you should do one thing at a time. Go through testing, find out what level you have, and then gradually start studying. Step by step, slowly and methodically.
6. You do not talk to people.
Why have you decided to do that? You might want to speak to native speakers, you might want to understand your future partner better or to study something special that you are interested in. However, if you do not regularly talk to fluent speakers, then you will not succeed, or you will not be satisfied with the result. Therefore, use the benefits of modern civilization, find pen pals, talk to them on the regular basis. Practicing is the best way to deal with your barriers to studying and achieve your goal as soon as possible without the help of specialized schools.
